The Program

The ICFA 42 program is a PDF that contains normal program information but also links to uploaded resources (document, video, or audio files) to review prior to the sessions and links to the sessions (Zoom meetings) themselves.

The program is provided to all ICFA 42 registrants but only to registrants. Please do not share the address of this page or the information in the program.

To review a file, click on the appropriate link in the program. Note that:

  • The quality of the sound in the video presentations depends on how they were recorded. You might need to adjust your volume.
  • The playback quality of the video presentations will be affected by the capacity and competing use of your Internet connection. The best performance will likely be found if you are accessing the Internet through a wired network.

Joining Sessions, Meetings, and Plenaries

All ICFA 42 sessions, meetings, and plenaries will be held using Zoom. When you are ready to join a session, click on the link in the program. You do not have to have a Zoom account to join but the service will download an app to your device to give you local control over your camera and mic and to participate in the chat.

The quality of your audio and video will be affected by the capacity and competing use of your Internet connection. The best performance will likely be found if you are accessing the Internet through a wired network.

If you know the time and room of a particular session, meeting, panel, or plenary, you can join it without going through the program by clicking on the appropriate link in this document (last updated 2021-03-20 21:05 EDT): link

In the program, some links will lead to a webinar instead of to a meeting. A webinar is a large session in which only the panelists and moderator or host can "speak" but the audience can interact with them to pose questions through chat.

Here is a short video about joining a session that shows what to expect except that you'll click on a link in the program instead of in an email. (Video will play in new tab.)

If you are unfamiliar with videoconferencing, you should review how to control your own camera and mic. This video explains how. (Video will play in new tab.)

"Socializing"

The board is providing a "social" option using the Discord platform, which is free. There are no official events in Discord and the server is not being monitored. However, all visitors to the ICFA Discord server are expected to abide by the same netiquette as is in effect for the conference. Nevertheless, it is offered as-is and users are responsible for protecting their own interests.

Here is a brief guide to Discord: ICFA_Discord_Guide.pdf

Here is the link to the ICFA Discord server: https://discord.gg/QPXUvnQrk9

N.B. Discord wants to remain active even when it's not being used. To fully stop Discord, you must 1) log out of Discord (bottom left area of the screen) and 2) display Windows task manager or the Apple equivalent and end the task
